Small-scale water recreation

During the summer of 2017, a team of researchers from Michigan State University worked in tandem with Pontiac’s Planning Manager and Economic Development Director to conduct a study to determine the best way to improve small-scale water recreation in the city. The study evaluated the conditions of eight major parks in Pontiac. The report identifies a handful of recommendations based on the team’s findings.

The report examines the physical condition of each park, as well as the various aspects of the parks. In addition, the team conducted site visits and analyzed data from the City of Pontiac’s 2021-2025 Parks and Recreation Plan. The report identifies eight park themes and recommends corresponding recommendations for improvement.

The team recommends that all eight parks be equipped with at least one novelty. They recommend that Crystal Lake be the home of small-scale water recreation. This could include adding a concession stand, water slides, and picnic tables. The team also suggests adding outdoor workout equipment and restroom facilities. A fantastic read!
